For
the thousands who pass through the Sepulveda Pass daily
on the 405, they can get a glimpse of this mountaintop
community - only a sliver of magnificent homes and condominiums
perched on the mountain's edge, overlooking all of Los
Angeles. To residents of Mountaingate, this hilltop community
is like Shangri La …"It is like a paradise, above it all,
away from it all."
Mountaingate is one of the Westside's most popular,
gated neighborhoods because of its ideal location atop the
Santa Monica Mountains with magnificent views and weather.
The first phase in the Mountaingate development was the
Country Club and golf courses, built in 1970, on a
sanitary landfill. No homes in all of Mountaingate,
however, are located on landfill. The first homes, which
are townhouse/condominiums,
were constructed in 1979.

The
private Mountaingate Country Club features two golf courses
that meander through the canyons and arroyos of the development
and is regarded as one of the top golf tests in Los Angeles.
Mountaingate CC features two golf layouts - the Lake-North
course, par 70, and the North-South, par 71. The Club also
features a very active social and recreational calendar and
has six tennis courts, a restaurant, snack shop, pro shop
and other amenities including a spa and locker rooms.
The Country Club is located within the development, but it
is not part of the Mountaingate residential community. Several
types of memberships are available at the private Club.
Because of its altitude, many days you can drive down Mountaingate
Drive. leaving the already sun-baked landscape and enter the
low-lying fog below. In the evening, you have city and ocean
view vistas unmatched on the Westside. Certainly, what attracts
people to Mountaingate is its unique mountain environment
- steep mountains on all sides, lots of pines and oak trees
native to the area, and incredible views. What makes Mountaingate
unique is that is located in the "heart of the Santa Monica
Mountains" - a vast range that extends from the Sepulveda
Pass all the way to the West, Malibu, and Pacific Ocean. With
nearby hiking and biking trails adjacent to Mountaingate,
this hilltop community is a gateway to some of Southern California's
most native splendor and wild life.

Mountaingate
features four-communities-in-one for a total of 307 residences
-- 187 single-family dwellings and 130 town homes/condominiums.
There are three townhouse communities - The Vista, The Terrace,
and The Ridge, and the single-family homes are located in
Promontory, Canyonback, and Stoney Hill. There are four homes
located on Mountain Crest Lane. On the horizon, Mountaingate
will be home to a new development of 27 to 29 single-family
homes on large, estate-sized lots. The development is currently
in for plan review and environmental impact studies, but it
is expected to started in the near future.
Most of the
Mountaingate community is served by 24-hour guard-gated security,
and guards patrol all neighborhoods on a regular basis for
added security and privacy around the clock.
|
Residents of each community also enjoy a beautiful community
pool, and some of the neighborhoods have other amenities
such as a recreation room, mini park or tennis courts.
Mountaingate streets are maintained by the City of Los Angeles;
however, they are available for private homeowners use only.
But what makes Mountaingate attractive is its ideal location,
only 30 minutes away from downtown Los Angeles and the Valley.
Mountaingate residents love the community because it offers
a true "get-away-from-it-all" feeling high in the mountains,
yet just minutes from Brentwood's or the Valley's fine restaurants
and shopping. Mountaingate is "above it all" in many ways.
It's the ideal get-away for those who truly want to be apart
from the bustle of the Westside.
