How to Get Your Home Ready to be Put on the Market
Clean it up. Look at your house with a critical eye. Is it messy?
Does it need painting? Cleaning? How do the carpets look? Does the
garage need emptying out? Do it all.
Check your landscaping! What condition are your plants and lawn in?
Have fresh flowers planted, particularly in the front yard and entry
area. Feed the lawn if necessary. Remember the old adage about first
impressions.
Think about the things that first attracted you to the house.
Play them up, as these features that will most likely have the same
effect on buyers.
When showing the house, remember that fragrance and odors make as
big an impression as what the potential buyer will see. Make sure your
house smells good, e.g. no smoking, food, or animal smells. Sometimes we
get used to smells and aren’t even aware of them. Air out your house -
just to be on the safe side.
Set a scene. Use your imagination!
